Interview Philip Brey - Ethics and technology
Research programme at the Twente Graduate School
14 December 2009
Within the framework of the information meeting of the Twente Graduate School for the students an interview with Philip Brey, programme leader of the Programme Ethics and Technology was published in the UT News of 26 November.
In this interview
Philip Brey shows his affection and enthusiasm for this new
initiative. The professor in Philosophy of Technology chose
consciously to do his PhD at the University of California, where
the first two years of this trajectory mainly consisted of
intensive lecturing for PhD and the last two years were dedicated
to his doctoral thesis. The Twente Graduate School is based upon
this American Model of doctoral education and research. Philip Brey
particularly takes the view that this development will contribute
towards the preservation of talented students and to attract
international students.
His expectation is that the Twente Graduate School will attract
highly talented students because of the perspective of a
PhD-position and that certainly 25 per cent of his master students
will be interested and will be able to continue their doctoral
programme at the Twente Graduate School.
