Creative Technology
This academic year we start a unique and new bachelor's programme: Creative Technology
Experts in smart technologies, new media and industrial design at the University of Twente have joined hands to develop this new multidisciplinary bachelor's programme. Creative Technology builds on a sound technological base for innovations, while drawing on the arts for inspiration and for ways of working. Creativity is a central theme in the education, leaving ample space for individual specialization and personal development.
In today's world we enjoy a wealth of technology to interact
using text, video and music. Electronic sensors are
everywhere. The challenge for creative students is to invent
high-tech applications that will make our lives more enjoyable and
truly make a difference.
Creative Technology integrates design, smart sensor and new
media technologies with computer science and mathematical modeling.
Insights into human behaviour, communication and business skills
are also part of the curriculum. Students will be continuously
challenged to use all of these fields in the invention and
development of real-life applications that will bring different
communities closer together and that will increase our awareness of
the earth we inhabit, making this world a better place to live in
for future generations.
In September 2009, the first group of 20 students
starts the new bachelor's program Creative Technology at the
University of Twente. Creative Technology is open to all VWO
graduates that are creative and challenged by the idea of bridging
the gap between societal needs and technological possibilities.
They can be admitted with any VWO profile.
The accreditation process of Creative Technology is currently being
carried out by NWO.
